The director interviewed dozens of women from all sides of the Vietnam conflict. All spoke of their heartbreaking and harrowing dreams, which recurred for the 20 years following their husbands’ deaths during the war. They were each so moving, but we could not possibly take them all in. When I finished this scene, there were only 5 phrases referring to the dreams, with archival imagery eliding over Emiko Omori’s gorgeous footage of the countryside, shot from a moving train.
